PROJECT SPOTLIGHT:
KROGER
McDonough, GA
Kroger #633 in McDonough, GA, presented a unique refrigeration challenge to the DHR team with a large-scale layout and strict industry specifications. Instead of a traditional centralized system, we installed five individual remote Hussmann Protocol units strategically placed throughout the store, each with its own condenser installed on the roof.
Kroger’s refrigeration standards are among the most detailed in the industry, requiring all piping to run overhead, with no underground piping. This precision in design ensures greater accessibility for maintenance while aligning with Kroger’s strict efficiency and safety guidelines.
Spanning 124,000 square feet, this store required the installation of over 200 refrigerated cases and 20 evaporators, making it a high-capacity refrigeration project. To optimize energy efficiency and temperature control, the system is equipped with state-of-the-art Electronic Expansion Valves (EEVs), managed by Danfoss controllers as part of the Energy Management System (EMS).
